Posted by Tammy Elliot on Apr 22, 2015 12:00:00 PM

If you are participating in wedding/bridal shows, large or small, here are some tips to get a bigger return on your investment:

  •   Upfront planning and preparation.  Have a game plan for the show.  Know your goals, set-up, offers and who is doing what.

  •   Be prepared to do business.  Don’t come to a show just to get exposure and leads, look for a way to write business – so have contracts and forms available.

  •   Pre-show marketing.  Let people know you will be at the show – post it to social, send out emails to your database & let them know if you have any show specials you will be offering.

For years I have listened to wedding professionals tell me they are going after the "high end bride."  When I first entered this industry over ten years ago, I asked myself, what qualifies as a high end bride and how many of them are there?  I know, these sound like pretty simple questions, right?   As I travel around the country and speak to various wedding professionals, I have often asked these questions and have received a wide variety of answers. I find there is no consensus, even in the same market.  The truth is, high end is defined by you.  You decide what a high end bride is for you.  From DC to Dallas and Albuquerque to Atlanta – the definitions change.  Here is a breakdown of wedding spends from The Wedding Report:

Are you a planner or a reactor?  Do you have your goals clearly spelled out and a road map to achieve them?  If so, congratulations!  If not, it’s never too late to begin.  Start by setting your goals for your business.  Sales goals, marketing goals, operation goals, staffing goals, image goals, market share, etc… For example, ask yourself, How many weddings do I want to do this year?  Break it down by month if possible.  Then ask yourself how you will meet this goal?  Do you have a sales plan that is strong enough to meet your goal?  Here’s an easy formula to create a sales plan to meet your sales goal:
